LP govt’ll impact Edo people positively – Akpata

Blueprint 2024/10/5

The Labour Party (LP) candidate in the September 21 governorship election in Edo state, Barrister Olumide Akpata, has pledged an impactful government on the people if voted to power.

Akpata, who urged residents to entrust him with their votes, said education, accessible health care, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and power would be given priorities by his administration.

He made the pledge Friday when he and the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Yusuf Kadiri, paid a courtesy visit to the Edo state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Benin City.

He also said he would fix deplorable roads irrespective of whether they were federal or state roads, noting that “the people and the economy have to improve.”

“We must put the people back at the centre of governance; and LP is committed to setting up primary health care centres in each of the 192 wards in the state.

“I was disappointed when I heard that the Edo specialist hospital is essentially for the need of paying patients… It is more like a private hospital. Our hospitals must be accessible to all.”

The LP candidate said it was a disaster that the staffers of the state-owned Ambrose Alli University (AAU) were allegedly being owed 30 months’ salaries.
