Bounty hunter Din Djarin and his lovable ward Grogu are heading to the big screen with the movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu. While no cast members have been announced for the feature yet, one Star Wars actor is hoping that she'll get the call to return to a galaxy far, far away.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Emily Swallow — who portrays The Armorer, the leader of a tribe of Mandalorian warriors — expressed interest in appearing in The Mandalorian & Grogu after being asked if she would be in the upcoming movie. "There’s always a chance," the actor said. Swallow then confirmed that she hadn't heard anything from Lucasfilm about the movie yet. After Screen Rant told the actor that they "hope that call comes soon," Swallow responded, "I hope so, too." Swallow has so far appeared in nine episodes of The Mandalorian as The Armorer, as well as the fifth episode of The Book of Boba Fett.

Jon Favreau Is Directing The Mandalorian Movie

Jon Favreau — who created The Mandalorian — is attached to write and direct The Mandalorian & Grogu, the first Star Wars movie to enter production since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker. It will also reportedly be the first movie in the sci-fi franchise to be shot entirely in California. The highly-anticipated movie will reportedly receive over $21.7 million from the state, which is one of the largest tax credits ever from the California Film Commission. The Mandalorian & Grogu is expected to generate over $166.4 million in below-the-line wages and qualified expenditures.

At the time of writing, no cast members have been confirmed for The Mandalorian & Grogu, although Pedro Pascal is expected to return at least as the voice of Din Djarin. Similar to Swallow, actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, who portrays Carson Teva of the New Republic's Starfighter Corps in The Mandalorian, has expressed a willingness to appear in the big screen continuation, noting that it would "be insane to say no to that." In May 2024, it was reported that Sigourney Weaver (Ripley in Alien) was in negotiations with Lucasfilm for a role in The Mandalorian & Grogu. If cast, Weaver would become the first new addition to the Star Wars franchise to join the project.

Another Star Wars Movie Gearing Up to Begin Production Soon

The Mandalorian & Grogu isn't the only Star Wars movie that Lucasfilm is looking to get off the ground soon. The company is also deep into pre-production on an untitled Star Wars movie that will bring back Daisy Ridley's Rey Skywalker for a new adventure set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is directing the untitled Star Wars movie from a screenplay written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. Like The Mandalorian & Grogu, Ridley's Star Wars movie is expected to start production before the end of the year.

The Mandalorian & Grogu is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
