Lagos Metropolitan Lions Club Executes Four Projects In Agege Schools

Lagos Metropolitan Lions Club at the weekend gave a new lease on life to students in schools in Oniwaya, Agege area of Lagos State as it commissioned four projects in the schools.

The projects that were done in the schools were the donation of a fully equipped school library to African Church Primary School, Oniwaya Road, Agege, Lagos; commissioning of a refurbished borehole to Saint Saviour Primary School, Oniwaya, Road, Agege, Lagos; and commissioning of a sickbay to the same school Lagos Metro Lions Club.

The club also donated more 2000 exercise books, 100 school bags, rulers, pens and others to the pupils of the schools.

Speaking at the event, the president of the club, Lion Jennifer Obianuju Onwuta, said that the club made the interventions because it wanted to improve the learning and teaching conditions in the schools.

According to her, after a needs assessment of the schools, the club discovered that the schools, which share common premises, did not have a sickbay and the club decided to build one for them. She added that the sickbay is large and students from surrounding schools can also make use of the facility.

Onwuta charged the students and staff of the schools to ensure that the facilities are put to proper use and are maintained, adding that the club would ensure that the facilities are well maintained.

She urged the well to do in society to emulate the club and donate to good causes, adding that the government cannot do it alone.

Also speaking at the event, the district governor of Lions Clubs District 404B2, who was represented by the first vice district governor, Lion Tolulope Sebanjo, said that the Lion Club is an international service organization with members in more than 200 countries and territories and praised Lagos Metropolitan Lions Club for executing the projects and tasked the members not to relent.

A former district governor, Lion Kayode Oshunuga, said that Lagos Metropolitan Lions Club, though relatively a new club in the district, is setting the bar for other clubs, describing the club as one of shining lights in the district.

He praised the leadership of the club for delivering big projects over the years and asked them to continue to do great things.

Also speaking at the event, Catherine Ogunyomi, Education Secretary, Agege, lauded the club for executing the projects in the schools and promised that she would ensure that the projects are put to proper use and maintained.

She disclosed that the club had done some projects in the schools in the past.
