As the country experiences the rainy season, the flood situation has worsened due to blocked drainages.

In an effort to reduce flood issues in Ogun State, the 35 Artillery Brigade Alamala in Abeokuta embarked on a clean-up exercise at the Lafenwa Market, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

The army believes this effort is a way to give back to society and promote good sanitation and hygiene among residents.

It will also allow for the free flow of rainwater and prevent flooding in the area.

Meanwhile, nine people have reportedly died and about 5,000 households have been displaced by floods across 30 communities in Yobe State.

This information was disclosed by the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, July 2.

In Bauchi State, there are reports of severe flooding in Dambam, the headquarters of Dambam Local Government Area. The flooding has submerged the Model Central Primary School, forcing pupils to stay indoors.

As a result, the pupils have temporarily stopped attending school until the area dries out, potentially causing them to miss an entire term.
