HITC understands that Manchester City have finalised their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have been very quiet in the transfer market so far with the Citizens yet to make a first team signing whilst no deal looks to be imminent.

HITC reported that City are interested in Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes as an alternative to Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United.

Apart from their interest in the Brazilian midfielder, things have been quiet at the Etihad Stadium but it appears as if City are about to pull off their first signing of the summer.

City finalise first signing of the summer

Sources have told HITC that City have finalised the signing of Savio, who has agreed a five-year deal at the Etihad.

The 20-year-old City Football Group asset spent last season on loan in Spain at Girona, from French club Troyes.

During his time at the La Liga side, the Brazilian was outstanding for the club under promising coach Michel as they finished in a Champions League spot.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Michel was full of praise for the Brazilian when he said: “When I saw Savio on first training session I said: ‘We’re gonna play in Europe next season’. He’s special. He’s the best player I’ve ever had.”

In his 37 La Liga appearances for Girona, the 20-year-old winger scored nine times and provided 10 assists in what was a brilliant campaign for the Brazilian.

HITC can confirm that Guardiola has approved him joining City and he will be a part of the first-team squad. The former Barcelona boss is understood to have spoken to the 20-year-old.

With Savio set to make his move to the Etihad Stadium, sources have told HITC that one City player is heading towards the exit door.

Despite saying upon arrival at the Etihad Stadium that playing under Guardiola was a ‘dream come true, HITC understands that left-back Sergio Gomez is on his way out of Manchester.

Sources have told HITC that Real Sociedad have struck an agreement to sign Gomez from City for a fee in the region of £7.5 million.

Despite the imminent sale, sources have told HITC that City have included a buyback clause and a sell-on clause in the sale of the 23-year-old Spaniard.

HITC also understands that Gomez informed City’s hierarchy of his desire to depart the Etihad Stadium and the club granted him that wish and agreed to the deal.
