Iconic Hip-hop and RnB duo, Psycho YP and Azanti, have stepped out with another vibrant single dubbed, Naija Funk, which serves as yet another prelude to their widely anticipated duet album YP & Azanti Volume 2. The record showcases their brilliant chemistry, while promoting use of nostalgia and cultural fusions in Nigerian music.

Produced by fast-rising music whiz, Aykbeats (Mohbad, Liya, Ric Hassani), Naija Funk samples the old Yoruba folk tune, Bojo baro, melding it with a funk-driven horns and a gliding pop-leaning tempo that colours the record. The song raises the momentum set by the duo’s earlier single, Clear Road, which also set a milestone for cultural fusion as it melded Hip Hop and Amapiano perfectly.

Their forthcoming YP & Azanti Vol 2, follows the magic of YP and Azanti Vol 1, where they ushered in the era of Hip-Hop/RnB duets in the Nigerian music scene. The 7-tracker debut, released in 2020, chaperoned a new love for rapper-singer collabs across lovers of African music that propelled the duo to mainstream music charts. Both musicians, based in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, have left their mark on the Afro- fusion scene, after a brilliant mix of genres that defines their collaboration.

Naija Funk is available across music streaming platforms.
