Stolen car recovered in Tsakani

Law enforcement officers arrested a man in connection with a stolen vehicle.

The recovered stolen white Toyota.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit officers intercepted a 54-year-old man for possession of a reported stolen motor vehicle in Tsakani on June 25.

EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said officers on patrol received information from a well-known vehicle tracking company about a white Toyota bakkie reported stolen at the Springs Police Station.

“Officers immediately acted on the information by following the coordinates.

“The law enforcers managed to locate and tactically stopped the sought LDV with one occupant at the corner of First and Second streets, Ext 12A.

“Upon interviewing the driver, who alleged he bought the vehicle from someone, the officers explained he had a stolen vehicle.

“The driver, who pretended to be confused, was handcuffed and marched to the Tsakane Police Station, while the officers booked the recovered vehicle in at the Aeroton Police Pound, for further investigations,” said Thepa.
