Adamawa, UNICEF sensitize stakeholders on safe school implementation

Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), with support from UNICEF has sensitized education stakeholders on safe school implementation and monitoring, targeting 7,000 primary, secondary and private schools.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the participants were drown from  Education Secretaries (ES), Divisional Inspectorate for Education (DIE) and Education Management Information Officers (EMIO), from the  21 Local Government Areas of  the state.

Speaking at the sensitization in Yola on Monday, Mr Joel Jutum, UNICEF Education Consultant in the state  said, the objective of the sensitization was  to create awareness to stakeholders on the  implementation of safe school declaration.

He said that the participants were expected to take immediate actions for implementation at their various local government areas.

Joel said, all head teachers in public primary, secondary and private schools should be involved in sensitization at the local government level, including school proprietors.

In his address, Mr Murtala Babayi, ADSUBEB Chairman said, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and teachers  was  paramount in delivering quality education.

According to him, safe schools provide a nurturing environment, where children can thrive and learn without fear.

“This meeting signifies our unwavering commitment to creating safe and secure  learning environments across all our schools in the state.

“Over the next day, we will delve into the implementation and monitoring strategies for the Safe School Initiative in our various LGAs.

“We will explore best practices, identify challenges, and collaborate on solutions to create a robust safety framework for our schools”, he said.

Babayi, who said the initiative required a collective effort from all stakeholders,  assured the people of  every necessary support for it to succeed.

“Let us work together to build a future, where every child feels safe, secured, supported, and empowered to learn in a nurturing environment,” he said.

Nathaniel Ali, Education Secretary, Lamurde LGA thanked  UNICEF for its wonderful contributions for educational  development in the state.

He said that with the training and sensitization, the stakeholders no longer  needed any  supervisor to do the right thing to ensure safety in the schools.

He urged them to ensure that a step  down training was done to carry all stakeholders along in order to enhance teaching and  learning in the state. (NAN
