Senator Bode Olajumoke Celebrates 80th Birthday

Senator Bode Olajumoke celebrated his 80th birthday in grand style yesterday at the prestigious Yoruba Tennis Club in Onikan, Lagos. 

The event was attended by dignitaries from across the political spectrum across Nigeria, as well as friends and well-wishers who gathered to honor him despite it being a Monday.

This event is one of His Birthday Lineup, the second one is coming up in his hometown, Imeri, in Ondo state, where the grand finale will take place in Akure, Ondo State.

Short Background of  Senator Bode Olajumoke

Bode Olajumoke was born on July 1, 1944, in Lagos, into a Yoruba family from Imeri in Ondo State. He holds an LL.M. from Moscow, a Ph.D. in Law from Edinburgh, and a BL from Lagos. 

His career began as a trainee reporter with the Daily Times of Nigeria from 1963 to 1964. After obtaining his law degrees, he worked with the Federal Ministry of Establishment from 1974 to 1979 and later joined the Ministry of Defence in 1980, retiring from the civil service as a GL 15 officer in 1987.

In 2003, as chairman of RORO Oceanic, Dr. Bode Olajumoke criticized Nigeria’s maritime policies and high tariffs, advocating for the privatization of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Dr. Bode Olajumoke also serves as chairman of MITOSATH (Mission to Save the Helpless), a non-governmental charity organization dedicated to improving the health of the less privileged.
