Conor McGregor's UFC career has been nothing short of astonishing.

Despite that, the former dual-weight champion actually made his career-best payday when he crossed over to boxing to fight with Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

Just 45 minutes before the 'Money Fight' got underway, disaster struck and McGregor wasn't sure if he'd be able to make his squared circle debut.

'Notorious', who at this point had his hands wrapped and was beginning to warm up backstage, panicked as he realised he'd forgotten something.

The MMA icon had left his gear bag, protective cup, and mouth guard at his Las Vegas home and needed someone from his team to collect the essential items.

McGregor’s marvellous mishap was caught on camera and fans were able to watch as the Irishman and Mayweather scrambled to save the fight less than an hour before it was due to begin.

“Get someone back to the house to get my s***,” McGregor was heard uttering. "Gear bag too. Gear bag too. My gear bag should be ready, yeah? The jock strap. I don’t know where that jockstrap is."

As word of McGregor’s error filtered through to Mayweather, he sprung into action and quickly pulled out a backup cup he had brought just in case.

“They say McGregor has forgot his cup,” he was told in his changing room.

Mayweather confidently replied: "Tell him he ain’t got to worry I’ve got a cup for him."

“Here you go,” Mayweather said. "I’ll give him one, he can have this. Here you go. Where is he? Can I go over there and give him one?"

Mayweather was understandably not allowed to go into his opponent's dressing room mere moments before their fight.

Ultimately, his cup was not needed as McGregor’s entourage returned with his gear just in time.

When the fight got going, the UFC star was allowed to tire himself out before Mayweather picked up the pace to earn his 50th win by way of TKO in the 10th round.

McGregor has enjoyed great success outside of fighting since taking on Mayweather in 2017.

The 35-year-old has built an empire with the money he picked up for that fight and in 2021 he topped Forbes’ annual list of richest athletes.

In the UFC, he’s struggled for form and fitness winning just one fight since then.

McGregor hasn't fought since breaking his leg in July 2021. 'Mystic Mac' is expected to make his eagerly anticipated comeback against Michael Chandler later this year.

Mayweather retired from boxing in the aftermath of his win against McGregor but has laced up the gloves several times since then for lucrative exhibition bouts.

On August 24, Mayweather will settle his feud with John Gotti III after their first fight descended into an ugly brawl that resulted in a DQ win for the 46-year-old boxing legend.
