The latest Arsenal transfer news as Mikel Arteta prepares for another busy summer in making changes to his squad

Arsenal's tough Premier League title race with Manchester City is going to go down to the wire meaning Mikel Arteta has very little room to even think about potential transfer incomings in the summer.

For Edu Gaspar, off-the-pitch, preparation will be more than underway ahead of the opening of the window. Despite being top of the table and competing in the UEFA Champions League, the Gunners squad is set to be rejigged once again at the end of the season.

Reports have suggested that a new striker and midfielder are on the north Londoners' radar. As well as incomings, plenty of players are expected to leave the club and the rumour hill has already kickstarted.

Here, football.london takes a look at the latest Arsenal transfer news and offers a different perspective.

Szszesny return muted

Wojciech Szszesny's potential return to Arsenal has been put on the backburner from reports in Ital [via The Telegraph]. The 34-year-old had been linked with a move back to the Emirates Stadium in their search for a number two, with Chelsea also interested.

However, it's claimed that the Poland international is set to sign a new contract at Juventus after the European Championships. The goalkeeper currently has one year left on his deal but the Old Lady are said to want to keep him beyond 2025.

football.london's Josh Holland says: This is one transfer rumour we didn't see coming. After leaving the Gunners in 2018 for Italy, the Polish shot-stopper has become one of Europe's most consistent players in his position.

However, at 34, he's coming to the end of his career and the role as 'No 2' could be a smart choice. But according to the reports in Italy, he looks to be staying in Italy to leave Arsenal being forced to look elsewhere for David Raya's back-up.

Aaron Ramsdale's future looks set to be away from north London in search of first-team football. Ideally, a player of Szczesny's quality would be the perfect deputy to Raya but they'll have to continue searching.

Promotion winners want Nketiah

Speaking of players who seem to be on the list to leave the club, Eddie Nketiah has been linked with a surprise summer exit to newly-promoted Ipswich Town.

After securing back-to-back promotions and ending their 24-year exodus from the top-flight, Kieran McKenna's team are back in the Premier League and have identified Nketiah as their ideal new striker.

According to TEAMtalk, the forward has emerged on the Tractor Boys' radar with the England international 'leaning towards' a move away from north London for more game time.

football.london's Josh Holland says: Everyone associated with Arsenal wants Nketiah's next move be the right one for him to flourish and show his quality on a weekly basis. Through no fault of his own, that hasn't happened with the Gunners but the talent is there.

Ipswich may be a step-down and there's the gamble of potentially being part of a relegated side. However, McKenna's team play some wonderful football and being the marquee signing of a Premier League side to spearhead a historic season may tempt him.

There will surely be more teams interested in him. Crystal Palace and Leicester City have both been credited with interest so it could be a tasty battle for his signature.
