Kochi: The Kerala High Court has stayed the arrest of actor Soubin Shahir and Shawn Antony, producers of the movie 'Manjummel Boys', in a case relating to the dispute over profit sharing.

The court has directed the police not to arrest them until May 22, the date of the next hearing. The bank account of Parava Films, owned by Soubin and Shawn, was frozen earlier.

Earlier, following the instructions of the Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court, the Marad Police registered a case against the producers. The court action was based on a complaint filed by Aroor native Siraj, who is one of the investors.

The case was filed for criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, and forgery. The complaint is that neither the money invested in the film nor the profit were returned to him.

Siraj claims that he invested Rs 7 crore in the film. The money was deposited through the Parava Films company, which operates in Kadavanthra under the ownership of Shawn Antony. Siraj alleges that the actual production cost of the film was hidden from him.
