IGP Charges Police Officers To Serve With Fear Of God

KATSINA – The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has charged the officers and men of the Katsina Police command to serve with the fear of God.

Egbetokun gave this charge in his address to the officers while on an official visit to the command in Katsina on Monday.

He said if you do a good job, you will be rewarded and blessed, adding that, they should keep up the good job to enable them receive their full blessings.

The IGP commended the command for their hard work despite the numerous concerns and challenges bedeviling the state.

He therefore directed the state police boss to commence a weekly training for all officers and men to be abreast with the present situation of the force.

On the issue of terminal benefits for retired officers Egbetokun said the issue is with the pension earnings of officers, adding that, the force leadership working on how to enhance their earnings.

“We are getting cooperation from all stakeholders and we are very optimistic that government is going to support us to achieve what we are planning for the retirees”, he posited.

The IGP however appealed to the people of Katsina state to continue to support the command to enable them ensure the security of lives and property.

CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, the state Police Commissioner in his welcome address, said the most troubling crime bedeviling the state is the activities of bandits hibernating in the forest and periodically kidnapping innocent citizens of the state.

Musa added that, despite these challenges, the command has recorded remarkable achievements, saying, since assumption of duty, the police have arrested 1,423 suspects while over 700 cases have been charged to the court.
