One of Africa’s Leading philanthropists  Tony Elumelu has revealed an unpopular truth about Entrepreneurship. 

The prominent champion of entrepreneurship in Africa through the front runner philanthropy he founded in 2010 and  has supported over 20,000 entrepreneurs across the continent, created more than 400,000 direct and indirect jobs in hugely contributing the to economic growth, Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) made the disclosure during the week as part of his weekly motivations.

“I would be insincere if I attempt to glamourize entrepreneurship or simplify it. It is not simple and as I said, it is a long journey and one that is tough. And the unpopular truth is that only those who have grit and resilience can make it through the end.” the chairman of Pan- African financial services group operating in 20 countries across Africa, the United Kingdom, France, the UAE, and is the only African bank with a commercial deposit-taking presence in the United States- United Bank for Africa (UBA) was credited during the week.

The telling by Elumelu who is also the chairman of one of Nigeria’s largest quoted conglomerates, Transcorp, -whose subsidiaries include Transcorp Power, one of the leading producers of electricity in Nigeria and Transcorp Hotels Plc, Nigeria’s foremost hospitality brand was posted on the social media handle of Tony Elumelu Foundation.

The revelation by the proponent of the economic policy of Africapitalism which positions that the private sector, and most importantly entrepreneurs, are the catalyst for the social and economic development of Africa further speaks to his unceasing stand that entrepreneurs must be prepared to work hard to succeed.
