Saturday June 29th, 2024 was an epoch making day at The Presidency, Merit House, Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja, Nigeria, where, His Excellency, Amb. Dr. Jonathan Ojadah, Global President, of the United International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC), delivered a Keynote address on the topic: Consolidating Peaceful Coexistence In Nigeria and Africa.

Amb Jonathan Ojadah, who is also the latest United Nations Rescue Marshal, adorned his ceremonial colourful outfit for the occasion.

The Head of Global Peace Ambassadors did not mince words as he dissected the topic for the day with enumerated strategies to the audience of distinguished top government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and top business men and women.

"Our topic of consolidating peaceful coexistence in Nigeria and across Africa, is paramount, for fostering harmony, understanding, and sustainable development in the continent," said Amb. Jonathan Ojadah. 

He then went on to outline strategies that must be adopted and implemented to achieve this purpose. 

1. Dialogue and Communication: We must encourage open and honest dialogue among individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions. This will build trust, provide understanding of different perspectives, and address grievances before they escalate into conflict.

2. Education and Cultural Exchange: Promoting educational programs and cultural exchanges is crucial. Initiatives like student exchanges, cultural festivals, and language training will foster crosscultural understanding and break down stereotypes.

3. Conflict and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mechanisms: Establishing effective ADR mechanisms, such as mediation, arbitration, and peace-building initiatives, is imperative. These tools address disputes early, preventing them from escalating into violence.

4. Economic Empowerment: Economic development programs that tackle poverty, inequality, and unemployment are essential. Entrepreneurship training, job creation initiatives, and social welfare programs can mitigate tensions and conflicts.

5. Leadership and Governance: Promoting good governance, accountability, and inclusive leadership is critical. This includes democratic reforms, anti-corruption initiatives, and leadership training programs that represent diverse interests and prioritize the well-being of all citizens.

6. Religious Tolerance and Understanding: Encouraging interfaith dialogue and respect for different religious beliefs is vital. Initiatives like interfaith conferences, religious education programs, and community outreach can foster understanding and tolerance.

7. Traditional and Cultural Practices: Respecting and celebrating traditional and cultural practices promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. Cultural festivals, traditional music and art programs, and language preservation initiatives are key.

8. Media and Information: Promoting responsible media practices, fact-checking, and accurate information dissemination is crucial in combating misinformation and hate speech. Media literacy programs, journalist training initiatives, and online fact-checking platforms are essential.

9. Community Engagement: Empowering local communities to take ownership of peace-building initiatives is fundamental. Community outreach programs, peace-building training, and local conflict resolution mechanisms can drive grassroots reconciliation.

10. Regional and International Cooperation: Fostering collaboration among African countries and international organizations is necessary. Sharing best practices, providing support, and addressing common challenges through regional peace-building initiatives and global development programs is vital.

By implementing these strategies, we can lay a strong foundation for peaceful coexistence in Nigeria and Africa. Together, we can promote a culture of peace, understanding, and sustainable development.

As a United Nations Rescue Marshall, the position entails the individual to always enhance public trust and credibility; Advocate for policies improving disaster response and emergency services; Strengthen international relations and collaboration on global issues; Secure increased resources and funding for emergency response; Inspire leadership in prioritizing humanitarian efforts; and attract international investors for the political good of government and people.

His Excellency, Amb. Dr Jonathan Emmamuzo Daniel Ojadah is a Nigerian diplomat, Businessman,  humanitarian & Philanthropist. A native of Aviarha, Isoko North LGA in Delta State, Nigeria., A distinguished personality in the realm of international trade and investment diplomacy. With an expansive mastery in both bilateral and multilateral commerce, he is poised as a significant figure in global economic arenas.

Amb. Jonathan has worked with different diplomats in several high level dialogues including the EU, AU & UN in countries such as Germany, United Kingdom, Lithuania, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Cameroon, Ghana and Uganda . 

He is actively involved in various initiatives promoting international cooperation and diplomacy aimed at promoting peace and prosperity globally. Some of his notable achievements and initiatives include:

Dr. Jonathan's educational journey is as diverse as it is impressive. He attended Contemporary Nursery & Primary school, Banjo Str, Liasu rd Ikotun Egbe in Lagos State, Sigma Bond Academy, Alake Idimu, Lagos State and tertiary education at the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State obtaining  Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Business Administration.

His unquenchable thirst for knowledge led him to acquire a Diploma in Diplomacy & International Relations from ESTAM University in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

His academic ventures took him abroad to the International British Institute (IBI) in Cairo, Egypt, where he achieved an Advanced Diploma in Tourism & Hospitality Management.

Furthering his education in the United States, he earned a Post Graduate Diploma (PGDE) in Education Management from the American Institute of Education & Training, and another Advanced Diploma in Health, Safety Environment (AD-HSE) Management from CIML Business School, USA. 

Amb. Dr. Jonathan also holds a Master's (MBA) in Leadership & Business Management from CIML Business School, Delaware, USA.
