"Revolutionary Nursing Residency Programs in UAE"
In a groundbreaking move, the United Arab Emirates has introduced specialized nursing residency programs aimed at assisting nurses, particularly Emiratis, in advancing their careers towards clinical specialization.

First of Its Kind Programs
The National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS) has approved three unique residency programs, including a program for recent graduates, adult critical care, and mental health nursing care. These programs have been developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) and various healthcare and academic experts in the country.

Nursing facilities can now apply for these programs, aligning with the UAE's vision to build a healthier and happier society while achieving national healthcare goals.

Enhancing the Healthcare Sector
The introduction of these residency programs aligns with the objectives of the National Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery (Guide 2022-2026) aimed at enhancing nursing and midwifery professions.

Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of Mohap, stressed the importance of investing in nursing specialization to provide high-quality healthcare services and improve overall community well-being.

Encouraging Specializations
Dr. Sumaya Mohamed Al Balushi, Head of the National Committee for Nursing and Midwifery at Mohap, encouraged Emirati nurses to take advantage of these residencies to advance their careers and contribute to a more specialized healthcare system.

Importance of Specializations
Dr. Sumaya emphasized the significance of nursing specializations in enhancing healthcare resource utilization, reducing environmental impacts, and promoting inclusive health coverage. The residency programs are seen as a critical step in establishing a comprehensive system supporting nursing specialization.

Expanding Specialization Opportunities
The UAE nurses now have the opportunity to specialize in various fields such as Adult Healthcare, Critical Care, Pediatric Nursing, and more. Mohap has outlined the requirements for licensing in the specialization system, focusing on providing relevant clinical training and updating the list of approved nursing specializations.

These specialized residencies aim to empower Emirati nurses to deliver exceptional care services to the community and residents, contributing to the overall well-being of the nation. The launch of these programs marks a significant milestone in the UAE's journey towards a more specialized and effective healthcare system."
