We're now well into the academic year - and the summer holidays aren't far off.

Some teenagers will already be preparing for their upcoming exams, whereas younger children in a matter of months will start school for the first time. From our first days of nursery to the last days at college, our time in education - and those who teach us - have a huge influence on our lives.

For many of us, it's been a while since we walked down our school corridors or sat in a lesson, but if you think back to your school days, there's bound to be a teacher who was a character, or inspired you with knowledge, kindness or even humour. We previously delved into the archives to find brilliant photos of teachers from down the decades at schools past and present.

Our archives have since rediscovered more to share too. Our images include both primary and secondary school teachers and also feature some of the pupils they taught.
