The European season officially ended at the end of June, with some Nigerian players seeing the end of their contracts with their respective clubs. In this article, MyNigeriaSports will look at some Super Eagles stars whose contracts expired at the end of last month and some speculations surrounding their future.

Ndidi has been the subject of widespread transfer speculation following his impressive season with Leicester City in the EFL Championship. The 27-year-old's contract with the Championship winners expired at the end of June, and there have been no concrete talks with the club over a possible extension. According to Football Insider, the Super Eagles midfielder has agreed to join Everton this summer. Despite interest from other suitors, including Monaco, Olympic Lyon, and Olympic Marseille, Everton is said to be in advanced talks with the player's representatives. Manager Sean Dyche wants to bolster his midfield with the addition of the former Genk man, who has nearly 200 Premier League appearances under his belt. Last season, Ndidi registered six goals and six assists in 36 appearances across all competitions for Leicester City.

Kelechi Iheanacho became a free agent after his deal with Leicester City expired at the end of June. After seven years at the King Power stadium, the 27-year-old's love story with the Foxes finally came to an end. The Super Eagles forward joined the King Power outfit in 2017 from Manchester City. Several clubs have expressed interest in the services of the Nigerian international, with Aston Villa leading the race for his signature. Other clubs reportedly interested in Iheanacho are Trabzonspor, Nottingham Forest, and Crystal Palace.

Ahmed Musa

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has been without a club since he mutually terminated his contract with Turkish club Sivasspor. The 31-year-old joined the club on a two-year deal in September 2022 after ending his deal with another Turkish Super Lig club, Fatih Karagümrük, after just a season. Being a free agent is not new to the Super Eagles striker. In 2021, he made a sensational return to Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) giants Kano Pillars after parting ways with Saudi Pro League side Al Nasr a year earlier.

The retired Super Eagles star became a free agent after his contract with Spartak Moscow expired at the end of the season. Moses initially joined the Russian side on loan from Chelsea in the 2020–2021 season before making the move permanent during the subsequent summer transfer window. He contributed 10 goals and 10 assists in 84 appearances for the Gladiators, according to PUNCH.
