UTME: Candidates’ performance excites Lagos learning center

Despite mass failure recorded in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), some schools and learning centres have most of their students scored high marks in the examination.

In those schools, candidates scored as high as 250 or more out of the 400 obtainable marks.

Recall that JAMB said only about 24 percent of the total 1.8 million candidates who sat the exam scored above 200 marks.

One of those learning centres with a high success rate is
Teesas, a hybrid tech learning centre in Lagos, disclosed that up to 97 per cent of students who prepared for the exam came out with flying colours.

One of them is Christina Smith, who left secondary school in 2021 and had sat for UTME previously with no success and because of that almost resigned to fate that perhaps she was not destined to go to university in Nigeria until she was introduced to enrol for lessons with Teesas.

“Thank God I did as I scored 255 on the exam and I’m sure I will get admission this year with the mark,” she stressed.

Another student, Treasure David, said, “The weekly CBT assessment tests at the centre during preparation for the exam were a game changer.

According to her, many of the questions I encountered in UTME were covered as past questions at the Teesas Learning Centre. I believe scoring 321 on the exam wouldn’t have been possible without coming to Teesas.

For Ochuole Ogar, who scored 284 said Physics used to be very difficult for her to understand before she joined Teesas for lessons.

Sharing experience, she said, “The classes were conversational and engaging, which helped me excel in my exams.

“On one occasion, I arrived late to class, and the tutor gave me a full revision of what was taught. That dedication made all the difference.”

Speaking on the success rate, Teesas Education has technology-enabled hybrid learning centres in Lekki and Ikeja, Lagos.

The learning centres offer computer-based practice tests and mock trials in various exams including WAEC, UTME, and Post-UTME that can be accessed online and offline via its mobile and web app, called Teesas Education App.
