Gombe Network of Civil Society (GONET) has called on Governments at all levels to take immediate and decisive action in addressing the emerging threats following recent terrorist attacks in Gwoza, Borno State, which claimed lives and properties.

According to the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), the call on Government has become necessary in order to safeguard the lives and properties of all Nigerians.

In a statement signed and made available to our Correspondent by the Chairman of GONET, Ambassador Ibrahim Yusuf, it urged the Federal, State and Local Governments to prioritize the security of their citizens and implement proactive measures to prevent such heinous incidents from occurring in the future.

The statement further called on security agencies to remain vigilant and on high alert, stressing that it is crucial that they intensify their efforts to detect, deter, and disrupt any plans that threaten the safety and security of communities.

It said, collaboration and intelligence sharing among security agencies must be enhanced to effectively combat these acts of terror and bring the perpetrators to justice.

While commiserating with the victims of the attack, GONET said, “We stand in solidarity with those who are grieving and the entire Borno State. We also extend our thoughts and prayers to those who have sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment. May they find strength and healing during this difficult time.

“We express our profound sorrow and strong condemnation of the recent bomb blast and extend our deepest sympathies to the families those who lost their loved ones in this senseless act of violence on Borno State and the entire Humanity”, it sympathised.

It said, GONET remains committed to advocating for the voiceless and supporting initiatives that foster peace, security, and development in Nigeria.

“We call on all Nigerians to remain united and resolute in the face of these challenges. Together, we can build a safer and more secure nation for ourselves and future generations”, it said.
