Kamohelo Mahlatsi has opened up about his time at Kaizer Chiefs and what led to his departure.

The 25-year-old left Amakhosi in September last year, bringing an end to a year stint at the club. He had joined them in 2022 from the now-defunct Moroka Swallows.

‘Nyaope’, as he’s widely known in football circles, managed seven appearances with the Glamour Boys, starting three matches and coming on from the bench on four occasions.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with FARPost, Mahlatsi declared Chiefs the best team out of 16 in the DStv Premiership.

However, he acknowledges that even for football clubs, perfection isn’t attainable, saying there are things he “can’t speak about” about his Chiefs stint.

“Chiefs was sharp, it’s just that somethings we can’t speak about them,” said Mahlatsi.

“But Chiefs is top, top, top. I don’t think there’s any team like Chiefs. Everything you want is there.

“I can say they are the best…but we know a thing cannot be perfect.”

Mahlatsi went on to disclose that he requested his release from the club due to limited playing time.

‘I COULD SEE I WAS NOT PLAYING’

“I could see I was not playing and I spoke to them, told them I wanted to leave and stuff,” he added.

“They agreed.”

The former SuperSport United man is currently unattached after parting ways with Chippa United at the end of the previous season.

He joined the Chilli Boys in the midseason and featured in 11 matches in all competitions. However, he missed some due to injury he sustained in the second round of the season.
