Apart from Gareth Southgate, everyone seems to be wondering why Gareth Southgate has continued to bench Cole Palmer.

The Three Lions have been poor at Euro 2024, but Southgate has opted not to start Cole Palmer.

It was expected that Palmer will start against Slovakia in the round of 16, but Southgate left him on the bench until the second-half.

England are to play Switzerland in the quarter-finals on Saturday, and Switzerland’s Kwadwo Duah has admitted his surprise at Cole Palmer’s lack of games in Euro 2024.

Speaking ahead of their quarter-final clash with England, Duah said: “Of course, I follow English football.

“I would say I’m a big Chelsea fan, my idol is Didier Drogba.

“[Palmer] had a very, very good season. I’m also thinking, ‘Why is he not playing?’ because his stats were perfect in my opinion.

“Let’s see if he starts at the weekend,” finished Duah ahead of his side’s clash with England.”
