Despite the recent gloom and chill, British weather maps indicate an imminent upswing in temperature across certain regions of the country, signalling another forthcoming heatwave. Cambridge can soon expect highs of 22C, according to the Met Office.

The UK, following sunny skies and hot weather, has experienced a significant temperature drop characterised by rain and clouds. Certain areas are currently experiencing temperatures 10C lower than last week's average, reports the Mirror.

The prevailing weather pattern has been termed as "unsettled and changeable" by the Met Office, speculating the continuation of cloudy and rainy conditions for some time. However, weather maps suggest a possible change in this scenario in a fortnight with a likely surge in temperatures.

Netweather's latest charts reveal the signs of incoming warmth from Europe. From July 10th, three regions are turning orange on the map indicating a rise in temperature back into the 20C range.

Predictions indicate that Eastern England, Southeast England, and London can expect to experience temperatures ranging between 20C and 23C around this period, with the warmer conditions to continue over several days. Maps showcasing temperatures for July 16 predict the persistence of temperatures within the 20C range mainly in southeastern England, where highs are expected to hover around 21C.

In Cambridge, the Met Office has predicted that temperatures will reach 22C with cloudy weather "changing to sunny intervals by lunchtime." This warm weather is predicted to continue.

The Met Office's long-range forecast for July 8 to 17 suggests that the recent dreary weather will soon make way for typical July warmth. The forecast states: The unsettled and changeable theme is expected to continue through the majority of this period.

"Cloud and rain-bearing systems will cross the UK from the west or southwest at times, accompanied by periods of stronger winds, but there are likely to be drier interludes too, with the best of the more settled weather in the east.

"With a generally southerly wind direction, temperatures are expected to rise back to the July norm from the cool beginning to the week, with the potential for wafts of warm continental air to affect the southeast at times."

The forecast concludes: "Into the second week, there are tentative signs that conditions could gradually become a bit more settled, though temperatures are likely to remain around average overall."
