The New Hanover County ABC Board has officially approved its budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The board unanimously passed the 2024-2025 budget during their meeting on Thursday, June 20. This budget outlines a total revenue of $74.3 million, which is slightly lower than the previous year by $2 million.
Employee Pay Raises and Upgrades
Within the budget, there are provisions for employee compensation improvements. The budget includes a 3% cost of living pay increase for all employees, along with a 2% merit-based pay raise. Additionally, there is allocated funding amounting to $25,000 for security camera enhancements. Moreover, $120,000 is set aside for computer upgrades to registers and inventory scanners. Beneficiaries will receive quarterly profit distributions totaling $4.2 million.
Support for Alcohol Education and Law Enforcement
A significant portion of the budget, $760,000, is allocated to alcohol education and rehabilitation efforts. Furthermore, $539,340 will be directed towards alcohol law enforcement initiatives.
