To boost non-oil exports and create jobs, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with LeLook, a company producing bags and shoes.

The executive director of the NEPC, Nonye Ayeni, while speaking in Abuja on Thursday at the signing ceremony, emphasised that the collaboration aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on job creation, poverty alleviation and removing people from the streets.

Ayeni highlighted NEPC’s mandate to increase the volume and value of non-oil exports, saying, “I see a very good collaboration between LeLook and NEPC for the interest of the youth, women, special needs people and Nigeria as a whole because it will lead to exports. The quality and variety of the company’s products, ranging from backpacks, cups, hats, and shoes, will contribute hugely to non oil exports.

“The NEPC, through its global exports campaign, will deploy everything necessary to facilitate training of youths and subsequent export of products from the LeLook factory.’’

The chief executive officer and founder of LeLook, Chinwe Ezenwa, said, “LeLook initially focused on training women facing gender-based violence, partnering with the United Nations (UN) for sponsorship. The company has since expanded its training to include university graduates and other individuals passionate about acquiring new skills.”
