New Delhi: In a tragic incident echoing the 2018 Burari case, the bodies of a farmer, his wife and their three children were found in their home in Ravdi village, Alirajpur district, Madhya Pradesh, on Monday. According to a PTI report, police suspect it to be a case of suicide. The deceased have been identified as Rakesh Dodwa (27), Lalita Dodwa (25  and their children Prakash (7), Akshay (5) and Laxmi (9).

Rakesh, Lalita, and their two sons were found hanging from the ceiling, while their daughter Laxmi was found on the floor. “Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide,” an official said, as per PTI. Initial reports indicated all five family members were found hanging, but a clarification from a villager later revealed the daughter’s body was on the floor. The discovery was made around 9:20 am on Monday morning.

The investigation into the incident is being spearheaded by the Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) of Alirajpur. No suicide note was found at the scene and it is suspected to have taken place between 7 pm on Sunday and 6 am on Monday. Rakesh Dodwa, who worked as both a farmer and a mason in Gujarat, is involved in the case. A dog squad and forensic team have gathered fingerprints from the location, with extra forensic support from Indore expected to join the inquiry. The post-mortem examinations are being recorded on video for further review.

2018 Burari incident

The incident is reminiscent of the 2018 Burari case in Delhi, in which eleven family members were found dead under mysterious circumstances on July 1, 2018. Ten were found hanging in the courtyard with blindfolds and mouths taped, while an elderly woman was strangled in another room. Handwritten notes indicated they sought salvation through rituals, likely driven by shared delusion or psychosis. Investigations suggested Lalit Chundawat orchestrated the events, influenced by his deceased father’s spirit.
