fidh.org 2024/10/5

On 5 July 2024, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and its member organisation League for the Defence of Human Rights in Iran (LDDHI) publish the fifth and final of their Iran Notes, a series of short thematic briefing notes that analyze the key aspects and root causes of Iran’s ongoing human rights crisis.

The note analyses the serious violations of the right to freedom of peaceful assembly in Iran in law and practice. It also provides a detailed chronology of repression of several waves of large-scale and predominantly peaceful street protests that have taken place in Iran over the past 15 years.

The first Iran Note, published in September 2023, analyzed the judiciary as a tool of repression and fear.

The second Iran Note, published in November 2023, detailed the use of the death penalty.

The third Iran Note, published in February 2024, described the repressive and hostile environment for civil society.

The fourth Iran Note, published in May 2024, documented the serious violations of women’s rights in Iran.
