To the editor:

Senator Schumer,

I need to say publicly what many friends have said to me privately. Joe Biden should step away as the Democratic Candidate for a 2nd term. Polls alone won’t convince him, but a trusted friend and colleague might have a shot at breaking through the “circle of wagons” by Democratic officials who resemble how their Republican counterparts have shamefully fallen in line with the corrupt convicted felon Trump.

I am a loyal Democrat who once was a county committee person. But I am also a 78-year-old who is aware of the limitations of aging that provide good days and “not so much” days. Biden’s physical and mental deficiencies for a bad day were on full display during the debate. They overshadowed the terrible performance by Trump who lied and distorted facts beyond any sense of reality.

There were two takeaways for me. One was more intense terror that Donald Trump will be ushered back into power unless there is a game changer. The second is a profound sadness that Biden can’t consistently do the job of President, let alone effectively pursue the campaign. There is no shame in getting old but there is when it is time to go, to step away and one doesn’t accept the reality.

The next day Biden campaigned in North Carolina and proclaimed that he tells the Truth, unlike his rival. The truth is that Trump will win if Biden is not replaced by a much younger energic capable candidate for the Democrats.

Senator Schumer, Joe & Jill need your “intervention” now; tell the truth!
