Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) leader and rebel Samajwadi Party MLA Pallavi Patel on Sunday raised the demand for a CBI probe into the death of her father and Apna Dal founder Sonelal Patel.

Pallavi, who belongs to one of the two factions of the party, has been raising the issue for the past few years.
Sonelal died allegedly in a road accident in 2009.

On Sunday, Pallavi along with other party members wearing black ribbons staged a protest in the Hazaratganj area of Lucknow in support of her demand. She also demanded Z security for Apna Dal (K) national president and her mother Krishna Patel.

Calling her husband’s death on October 17, 2009, as “suspicious”, Krishna Patel alleged that he was murdered as part of a conspiracy. She even pointed to an “attack” that allegedly took place on Sonelal in 1999.

Take an indirect jibe at her sister and Union minister Anupriya Patel, who heads the Apna Dal (Sonelal) faction, Pallavi said she had been a part of the government for the past 10 years but never demanded an inquiry into the alleged “murder” despite claiming to be Sonelal’s “successor”.

Later, Pallavi also handed over a memorandum marked to the Uttar Pradesh Governor through officials. They will continue to campaign till their demands are met, she said.
