Atalanta Complete Loan Deal for Illustrious Italian Forward

Atalanta and Galatasaray have struck a loan agreement for Nicolo Zaniolo’s switch to the Gewiss Stadium. According to Gianluca Di Marzio , La Dea will pay the Turkish club €3.5 million for a season-long loan with an option to buy set at €16m plus up to €2.5m in add-ons. Despite Fiorentina’s last-ditch attempt to hijack the 25-year-old’s move to Atalanta, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have got the deal over the line. If Zaniolo makes 60-65% of the Bergamo outfit’s fixtures next season, the buyout option will become mandatory. Per the report, Zaniolo’s permanent arrival will cost Atalanta roughly €22-23m between the loan, salary, and the purchase option. The Italian forward could land in Bergamo on Thursday to complete his medical before inking a short-term contract. Atalanta will give Zaniolo the benefit of the doubt despite his recent injury woes and an underwhelming loan stint at Aston Villa last season. The former Roma starlet struggled for regular game time at Villa Park, with Unai Emery’s side deciding against making his transfer permanent. After shaking hands with Galatasaray for Zaniolo’s return to Serie A, Atalanta must switch their attention toward Teun Koopmeiners. Juventus have reignited their efforts to sign the Dutch midfielder after completing the acquisition of Brazilian star Douglas Luiz. Juventus are Koopmeiners’ long-term admirers. Though Atalanta would ideally keep hold of their standout performer, there’s a feeling the player wants to open a new chapter this summer.
