Kinsmen of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, have cried out over the heavy rainstorm that destroyed property worth millions of naira and left the people of Andoni and Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Areas, homeless.

The Coordinator of Opobo United Progressives, Senibo Fenibo and Secretary, Hanson Mac-Pepple, in a statement yesterday, said that the rainstorm affected Ngo, Oyorokoto, Ekede, Ikuru, Okoroboile, Chiekmoluk, Oboloiluk, Agbama,  Otuokporo, Ebukumaija and Okoloile communities.

They claimed that Fubara who is their kinsmen “has looked the other way, while his people now live as destitute following the collosal damage by the rainstorms.”

Fenibo, also alleged that the governor has not visited or communicated with them since he was elected as governor last year, despite the support he got from them.

“The people of Opobo kingdom are disappointed in Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who has left us to suffer and live like destitute in the face of the serious havoc that the damaging rainstorm wrecked in our communities.

“The governor is our own, we have been with him strongly and solidly. We have fought the battle together with him. So we are surprised and disappointed that he has to treat his own people this way.

“Since the collosal damage that wrecked houses and properties in Opobo and its neighbouring communities, it has come to our surprise that our own brother, the governor has never identified with us, neither has he sent a delegation to ascertain the level of the damage that caused his kinsmen to become homeless.

“We therefore feel disappointed that the His Excellency the governor has abandoned his people and kinsmen,”the statement.
