Nigerian Observer 2024/10/6

The Enogie (Duke) of Ogan dukedom, His Royal Highness (HRH) George Igbinovia, has declared support for the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo and his running mate in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State, scheduled for September 21.

HRH Igbinovia made the declaration during an interview with our correspondent at Ogan in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state, last Friday.

Duke Igbinovia commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for the ongoing reconstruction of the palace building and a new electricity transformer donated to the community.

The Enogie maintained that the governor has always granted the community’s request and fulfilled promises made to them hence they are supporting the Edo PDP candidate to succeed Governor Obaseki.

“We are supporting continuity. As you can see, the ongoing palace building and not only that, the new (electricity) transformer. It is the handiwork of the governor; he is the one doing it and we appreciate him greatly. So we want everyone to vote en masse for PDP,” Pa Igbinovia declared.

He however appealed to Governor Obaseki to fix the dilapidated secondary school in the community that has been closed since 2020.

According to Pa Igbinovia, the community before now sent several letters to the state Ministry of Education for intervention, but to no avail.

“Education is an instrument of change; our dilapidated secondary school is closed down. We’re using this medium to appeal to the state government to come to our aid; as Oliver Twist will always ask for more”, the traditional ruler told the Nigerian Observer.
