once upon a time,

when my granny was still here,

the family was complete,

and we held each other dear.

but 13 years ago,

my granny was diagoosed with cancer,

the family supported one another,

but my prayers god did not answer.

five months later,

my granny died peacefully in her sleep,

and the peace finally broke,

and my family took a huge backwards leap.

each faction of my family,

that my granny stuck together with glue,

split apart from the others,

what was a heartbroken 13 year old to do.

well 13 years have passed,

since burying my granny in the cold hard ground,

the family split even further,

but to me duty is bound.

to try get my family back together again,

just like my granny would want,

but it seems an impossible task,

just out of reach like a taunt.

for no one listens to me,

like my granny once did,

they just see a 27 year old girl,

not someone with more under her lid.

if they looked carefully,

they would see what granny saw,

a girl with brains and family at heart,

with that from my drawn out path I will not withdraw.

for my family will be whole once again,

my granny I will make proud,

even if I’ve to drag them together,

screaming clear and loud.

We’ve already lost enough,

granny being one,

we need to stick with family,

even after all that’s been said and done.

for I may not be the family matriarch,

like my granny was,

but her traits live on in me,

and I will lay down the laws.

for in memory of her,

my granny the strongest person,

I will not allow further splits,

or for the situation to worsen.

the family Will be whole once again,

this to my granny I swear,

there will be no more seperation,

and they can fight me if they dare.
