Finidi George lands new coaching job following Super Eagles’ exit

Rivers United have appointed former Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George as its new manager.

Trendy Faith the media officer for Rivers Angels announced that the club will be unveiling the tactician on Thursday, July 4 2024.

Finidi, quit as Nigeria’s coach just a month after being appointed, following a disastrous start to the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

There were two 2026 World Cup qualifiers matches that the former Nigeria international handled, the first ended in a draw against South Africa and a shock defeat to Benin Republic.

The 54-year-old will take over the reign at the former Nigeria Premier Football League champions following Stanley Eguma’s sacking towards the end of last season.

The unveiling ceremony will hold at Rivers United’s secretariat in Port Harcourt. The club finished in a disappointing eighth position in the NPFL last term.
