GREENFIELD — In a collaborative effort between the City of Greenfield, the Greenfield Union School District, and the Monterey County Health Department, free Narcan and fentanyl test strips are now available to the Greenfield community. Access to Narcan is made easy with distribution boxes set up at four convenient locations in Greenfield. These distribution boxes can be found at the Greenfield Civic Center, Greenfield Fire Department, Greenfield Community Science Workshop, and Greenfield Union School District Family Resource Center. Detailed instructions and information on local resources can be found at each distribution box, and individuals can acquire Narcan without any questions asked. For further inquiries, individuals can reach out to the Greenfield Police Department.

SALINAS — Art lovers, mark your calendars for the upcoming exhibit at ArtWorks @Salinas. A captivating display titled “Glaze, Stain, Pour: Embodied Alter-Tales” by artist Dani Torvik will be showcased from July 5 to Sept. 27 at the Arts Council for Monterey County’s ArtWorks @Salinas Studios and Gallery. Torvik’s collection of vibrant and emotive paintings delve into personal nostalgia and cultural symbolism, drawing inspiration from various sources such as architecture, art history, and European folklore. The exhibit will kick off with an opening reception on July 5 at 262 Main St. in Salinas, coinciding with Salinas' First Friday event. Attendees can interact with the artist, indulge in refreshments, and explore the thought-provoking artworks. The exhibit will remain open from Friday to Sunday every week, offering free admission to all visitors.

ADOPTION EVENT

MONTEREY COUNTY — Look no further for your furry companion as the SPCA Monterey County hosts an Adoption Event from July 5-7. During this special event, adoption fees for puppies or kittens under 6 months are at a discounted rate, while all other pets are available for adoption at no cost, thanks to generous donors. Head over to SPCA Monterey County located at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway in Salinas, opposite WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Adoption hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, offering a seamless process that covers spay or neuter surgery, microchip identification, vaccinations, and more.
