WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Barack Obama has reportedly told his close associates that he thinks President Joe Biden's abysmal debate performance will make it harder for him to win in November, per the New York Post.
The 62-year-old ex-president allegedly thought that his former vice president faced a tough path to re-election, and now believes that the 81-year-old incumbent's chances on Election Day are even more uncertain, according to the Washington Post, which cited sources familiar with Obama's conversations with Democrats.

The former Democratic POTUS has offered to support the Commander-in-Chief after his lackluster debate outing against Donald Trump and has offered to serve as a sounding board as the 2024 presidential race intensifies.
A spokesperson for the Biden campaign told the aforementioned outlet that the president is “grateful” for his former boss's “unwavering support.”

“Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight — and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit. Last night didn’t change that, and it’s why so much is at stake in November,” he added.

The Washington Post noted that Barack Obama has long been concerned about Joe Biden’s chances against Donald Trump, reporting that the former president has cautioned the Democrat statesman several times in recent months about how challenging winning a second White House term will be.
He also expressed to his inner circle just before the debate that he had concerns regarding the state of the race.

According to the report, Obama has not yet come to the conclusion that Biden should withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.
The former president has appeared alongside Biden at two campaign fundraisers in recent months – one in Los Angeles and another in New York City – both of which generated more than $55 million in campaign contributions.
