JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Former President Donald Trump endorsed Bobby Harshbarger in the state Senate District 4 race, where Harshbarger is looking to unseat incumbent state Sen. Jon Lundberg.

Friday night, Trump endorsed Harshbarger in a post on Truth Social, calling the Kingsport pharmacist and son of Northeast Tennessee Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger “a fantastic Candidate who will do an incredible job in the Tennessee State Senate.”

“An America First Conservative and Trusted Pharmacist, Bobby will work hard to Grow the Economy, Stop Inflation, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Secure the Border, Support our Wonderful Military/Vets, and Strongly Defend our always under siege Second Amendment,” Trump said.

In May, the former president also endorsed Rep. Diana Harshbarger’s bid for a third term in the U.S. House.

“Bobby’s mother is the GREAT Congresswoman from Tennessee, Diana Harshbarger,” Trump posted Friday night. “He and his family are fierce advocates for our Movement to Make America Great Again and, therefore, Bobby Harshbarger has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

Trump’s endorsement came after polls closed on the first day of early voting ahead of Tennessee’s Aug. 1 election.

The Republican primary will likely decide the District 4 race. The two candidates and their supporters have spent nearly $700,000, campaign finance reports show. No Democrats are in the race.

Lundberg has gained the support of several top local and state Republicans, including Gov. Bill Lee, Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, state Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson, and former Congressman Phil Roe.
