PUNA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 38-year-old man was charged after he allegedly doused a 15-year-old boy with gasoline and threatened to light him on fire Tuesday afternoon, Hawaii Island police said.

The suspect was identified as George Dale Foote Jr., of Pahoa. Police said the teen victim was the son of the Foote’s girlfriend.

The teen told police he was looking for his mother on Foote’s property on Kamanu Street. The suspect then told him to leave, then grabbed a small bucket with what’s believed to be gasoline and a torch lighter from the back of his pickup truck.

Police said Foote then threatened to pour the gasoline on him and light him on fire. After Foote called out for the victim’s mother, who did not come out, Foote allegedly threw the gasoline on the victim’s eyes.

The victim ran away but said he heard Foote ignite the torch lighter.
