Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Man United should have brought in £100million per year for their front-of-kit sponsorship deal.

Man United announced their deal with Qualcomm on Monday (1 July), with the Snapdragon brand front and centre of their new kit for the 2024-25 campaign.

According to The Athletic (1 July), the deal is worth just under £60million per year and could run for five years if a two-year extension clause is activated.

United brought in £303million in commercial revenue in the 2022-23 campaign, the second-highest level in the Premier League – with only rivals City bringing in more.

Man United short-changed by £40m in new kit deal negotiations, says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think the kit sponsorship is worth £100million.

“Companies can use the impressions and convert that into revenue and sales.

“That would take good data use and good monetisation, but it’s there to be done.

“I would’ve been focusing on those type of companies, but United’s sales pitch may not have been able to make that happen.

“It should’ve been worth £100million.

“If you compare it to the price of one Super Bowl advert, what United’s shirt offers across the whole season – it’s so cheap at £60million.

“It’s something which the team need to look at.”
