Ogun Assembly Minority Leader Identifies Key Factors In Achieving Successful Legislative Business

The Minority Leader in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukman Adeleye, has identified the promotion of mutual interdependence, lobbying, continuous engagements with key stakeholders including constituents and opinion leaders  as key factors towards achieving a successful legislative business in any democracy.

Adeleye stated this during his presentation at the the monthly Business Meeting of the State Chapter of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations held at its Oke-Ilewo Office in Abeokuta.

He noted that democratic ideals could only be achieved through the promotion of mutual interdependence of all arms of government in a democracy, saying as a minority leader and lawmaker, his responsibility is to agitate for his constituents, commend the executive where necessary and draw attention to areas that need improvement in the governance of the State.

He said that any lawmaker that must excel in all legislative activities must undergo extensive human capacity development, pointing out that this would empower the Assemblyman to conduct effective legislative oversights through monitoring and evaluation to create value for government's resources and meet the yearnings of the people.

According to him, the State lawmakers remained united in its resolve to form a common front in championing the needs and aspirations of the people of the State,  commending the new leadership in the Assembly led by the Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide for his all inclusive and democratic driven style of administering the legislative arm of government in the State.

In their responses, a Council Member of NIPR, Mr. Tope Adaramola and the Vice Chairman of the State Chapter of NIPR, Mr. Waheed Ogunjobi commended the lawmaker for being an outstanding lawmakers, stressing the need to further use the NIPR platform in propagating legislative activities to their constituents across the State.

Hon. Adeleye was later honoured with a compendium of the Institute with a promise of him being considered for an affiliate member as one of the outstanding lawmakers in the State.
