Summary

  • Jessica Alba expresses interest in reprising her role as Invisible Woman in the MCU.
  • Alba would be the first past Fantastic Four star to join the MCU if she returns.
  • Avengers: Secret Wars could be the perfect opportunity for Alba's return.

Jessica Alba just returned to film after a five-year break via Netflix's Trigger Warning, and she already has another project lined up to follow that ratings smash (but critical flop). If she had it her way, she'd add an MCU project or two to her upcoming project list. It seems that after playing the Invisible Woman twice in Tim Story's Fantastic Four duology, she's more than willing to reprise the role in a multiversal Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

With Deadpool & Wolverine looking to make a killing at the box office, interviewers have been bringing up the topic of role reprisals with just about everyone who has ever starred in a Marvel flick. And, while sitting down with Entertainment Tonight, the topic came up with Alba, who was asked if she'd like to join the likes of Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Garner. Alba said of a potential Marvel return:

I loved those movies and [it] also changed my life, that series. No one has talked to me about [returning to the role], but I would jump at the chance. I loved that character and I felt like she was so unique in the Marvel universe at the time. There weren't [that] kind of female superheroes like her.

Alba wouldn't be the first past Marvel star to hop into the MCU, even excluding the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. First was Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men in Spider-Man: No Way Home - along with a host of old Spider-Man villains - then Patrick Stewart's Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and finally Kelsey Grammer's Beast in the post-credits scene of The Marvels. But, she would be the first from any of the past Fantastic Four movies.

Would Other Fantastic Four Stars Join Alba?

Chris Evans has already put his stamp on the MCU via Captain America, so it would be outright distracting to bring him back as the Human Torch. So that leaves Ioan Gruffudd's Mr. Fantastic, Julian McMahon's Doctor Doom, Michael Chiklis' the Thing, and Alba. Of that batch, Alba and Chiklis seem the most likely contenders, in terms of both the performers' interest and how much their appearance would mean to fans.

Jessica Alba has nothing but fond memories of her experience as the Invisible Woman, and doesn't believe Marvel have done a similar character since.

It would be too early to bring one of them back in Matt Shakman's 2025 franchise reboot. But, in Avengers: Secret Wars? That's another matter entirely, especially given the rumors circulating that not only will Hugh Jackman again play Wolverine, but Tobey Maguire will also suit up again as Peter Parker's webslinging alter ego. We'll see if Kevin Feige takes notice of Alba's interest and moves on it. One should never say never. Head over to this article to watch Alba discuss her work on Trigger Warning.
