Political activist and Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has advised President Bola Tinubu to avoid the appointment mistakes made by his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari.

In an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Sani emphasized the importance of prioritizing competence in appointments to achieve progress in governance. He criticized Buhari’s administration of nepotism, noting it failed to deliver results in key areas like security, economy, education, and healthcare.

Sani stated that during Buhari’s tenure, ministers were retained for eight years without cabinet reshuffles, and replacements took months when removals occurred.

The former lawmaker stressed that for Nigeria to advance, competency must be the primary criterion for appointments.
