Hip-Hop icon and YBNL head honcho, Olamide Gbenga Adedeji, better known by the moniker, Olamide Baddoo or Baddosneh, has released a new project, titled, Ikigai, a Japanese word that means “reason for being” or “life’s purpose.”

The rapper took to his social media account on June 26 to announce the project, a seven tracker. Prior to the announcement, the Science Student crooner made a surprise performance at the wedding of Davido and Chioma, which held on Tuesday, June 25 at the Eko Hotel & Suites Lagos.

Olamide on the project, features YBNL superstars Fireboy and Asake on track 3, titled, Uptown Disco, and teams up with former associates of the label – Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh in track 7, titled, Synchro System.

Ahead of the announcement, the self-acclaimed king of the street featurted a song on his Instagram story, which turns out to be Hello Habibi, which is the track 5 of his new project. The project comes as a surprise after the rapper announced on his X (formerly Twitter) account in 2023 that his last album Unruly might be his last project.

Since he came to the limelight, he has continued to dazzle listeners with his music, which has earned him a status as one of the greatest Nigerian artistes of the modern era, and consistently delivered hit records in his albums with his last project housing the hit songs Trumpet featuring CKay; New Religion featuring Asake and Jinja.

Ikigai, released on Wednesday, June 26, is his 10th solo project and 15th total project in his discography. The new project, which is a YBNL reunion, has an absolute vibe as Olamide continues to add new pages to his legacy in the Nigerian music scene.
