Vitalant, the leading non-profit blood provider for Maricopa County hospitals, is inviting the community to participate in the Saving Arizona Blood Drive scheduled for July 7 in Tempe. 600 Donors Needed to Make a Difference The event will take place at the Tempe Center for the Arts from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., aiming to gather a minimum of 600 donors to help combat blood shortages during the Fourth of July week, which traditionally experiences decreased donations. Type O Blood Urgently Required Type O blood, especially O-negative, is in high demand as it can be transfused to patients of any blood type, making up a significant portion of the population's blood supply. Impact of Donations Every donation counts and can save lives, like that of 17-year-old Kevin, a student at Mesa Eastmark High School who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Kevin's treatment has been made possible by the generous contribution of 15 blood donors. Rewards for Heroes Participants of the blood drive will receive tokens of appreciation, including a Vitalant Team Donor shirt, a voucher for a Kids Combo at Raising Cane's, and an entry into a drawing for a 2024 Volkswagen Jetta S. Join Vitalant in their mission to make a difference and save lives by donating blood on July 7 in Tempe.
