Swim for Free at NY State Parks All Summer Long: Get Ready for Outdoor Fun!

apexlifehub.com 2 days ago

This summer, visitors to New York state parks are in for a treat as they can now enjoy swimming for free at various locations, including two in New York City. No More Entry Fees Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced that entry fees for swimming pools at state parks across New York will be waived for the rest of the season. This initiative is part of the new 'Get Offline, Get Outside' campaign aimed at getting kids to spend more time outdoors. Free Swimming at City Parks Residents and tourists alike can now take a dip at Roberto Clemente State Park in the Bronx and Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park in Manhattan without having to pay the usual $2 fee for adults and $1 for kids. Both the indoor and outdoor pools at Riverbank are included in this offer. The outdoor pool at Roberto Clemente is already open, while the one at Riverbank will open on July 4 and remain accessible - and free - through Labor Day. Making Outdoor Activities More Accessible 'We wanted to make it easier and more affordable for our families, so many of which are struggling,' Governor Hochul stated during the announcement at Riverbank. Entry fees will be waived at swimming pools in a total of 14 state parks across New York, with parking fees still applicable. Some of the parks included are Jones Beach's West Bathhouse Pool, FDR, Bear Mountain, High Tor, and Rockland Lake state parks. While New York City-owned pools are already free, both city and state pools are facing challenges due to a shortage of lifeguards nationwide. Enjoy the Outdoors for Free So, whether you're looking to cool off in a pool or enjoy a swim in natural surroundings, take advantage of this offer to swim for free at NY state parks all summer long. Don't miss out on the opportunity to embrace nature and have some outdoor fun without breaking the bank!
