A Niger Delta Youth delegates summit organized by the Youth of Niger Delta States under the able watchful of Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori as one of the able leader of the region was historic and memorable as hundreds of the Youths attended, Tgnews learned

Elvis Akpobi Obas who is Oborevwori’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Youth Mentoring and Development led the delegates to the 4th Niger Delta MSME Summit/Bootcamp 2024 held at the EUI Event Centre in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The summit was held yesterday at the instance of the Niger Delta Young Professional Forum and tagged”Building a Culture of Entrepreneurship and Self-reliance Beyond Oil,”

Elvis commended Governor Sheriff for supporting Young Entrepreneurs by organizing the Youth summit which is poised to be a pivotal event, perfectly aligning with Delta State’s vision of economic growth and youth empowerment.

According to Elvis the Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in economic growth, representing over 90% of all firms and contributing significantly to employment and GDP worldwide.

He said recognizing the importance of economic growth with Youth as the backbone of every society, the United Nations General Assembly designated June 27th as World MSME Day to celebrate these enterprises, highlight their contributions, and promote their growth and sustainability.

He praised Governor Sherrif for giving young Niger Deltans the opportunity to participate in the 4th Niger Delta MSME Summit/Bootcamp 2024 and expose them to cutting-edge entrepreneurship practices and invaluable networking opportunities with industry leaders and policymakers.

“Workshops focused on business management, innovation, and sustainability that will enhance their skills, fostering economic growth through MSME development and job creation,” Elvis said

While appreciating Governor Sheriff for giving Young men and women the awesome privilege of becoming self-reliant through Sheriff Cares grants and SMES which has over 5000 beneficiaries across the state, and giving them the creative ability to become business owners.

The Program had in attendance MD NDDC, Dr . Samuel Ogbuku. DG Braced Commission, Ambassador Joe Keshi OON, Dr. Olasupo Olusi, MD Bank of Industries have delegates from different states of the Niger Delta region.

Elvis employed them to be good ambassadors of Delta anywhere they find themselves and support the administration of Governor Sheriff because it’s youth-driven and prioritizes them in every sector of his government.

The SSA to Governor Sherrif further revealed that the Niger Delta MSME Summit/Bootcamp was the fourth edition of the event that all state Governments in the Niger Delta sent their delegates and Asaba was the last state that hosted the third program.
