A former Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Bamitale Oguntoyinbo, has appealed federal lawmakers from the South-West zone to facilitate the repair of roads linking all the states in the zone.
Oguntoyinbo made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Oye-Ekiti on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the South’West zone is made up of Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos and Ekiti states.
The former NOA director expressed the regret that virtually all the federal roads in the zone had been abandoned for long, without any intervention from the Federal Ministry of Works and the lawmakers from the zone.

According to him, the roads are no longer safe for both private and commercial motorists, as hoodlums always take advantage of the bad roads to carry out attacks on travellers.
Oguntoyinbo urged the lawmakers in both the Senate and the House of Representatives to take proactive measures by drawing the attention of the federal ministry of works to the roads.
“I want to appeal to the South-West federal lawmakers in the National Assembly to facilitate quick repair of the roads linking all the states through and to Ibadan, which is the centre point of the zone.

“For over four years, the roads have been a death trap for travellers, especially commercial motorists, while hoodlums have take advantage of the bad roads to attack innocent people.
“On many occasions, accidents have occurred on the roads, with people losing their lives.
“I want to appeal to the federal lawmakers from the South-West zone to be alive to their responsibilities by doing things that will make life better for citizens of the zone,” he said.
The former NOA director also called for an emergency meeting between the traditional rulers from the zone and the governors to facilitate quick repair of the roads. (NAN)
