Rochester, N.Y. — A man faces charges after police said he fatally shot two men following an incident at a bar on the city's northeast side earlier this year.

Officers responded to North Goodman Street around 1:30 a.m. Feb. 11 for a report of two people shot. They found Wahid Nazario, 49, and Frank Rosario Vazquez, 43, lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators learned the men had been involved in an altercation at a bar at the corner of North Goodman and Blakeslee streets with Hector Ramos-Diaz, 42, and all three men had been asked to leave the bar.

Police said Ramos-Diaz, who lived in Farmington, ambushed the victims as they walked to their vehicle, firing at least 18 shots from a handgun and killed them.

Investigators determined Ramos-Diaz fled to Puerto Rico shortly after the homicide. U.S. Marshals took him into custody March 25. He refused to waive extradition, and the Monroe County District's Office drafted a governor's warrant that was signed in June.

Ramos-Diaz is charged with two counts of both first- and second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He's being extradited Wednesday afternoon to Rochester and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
