OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) - An eight-year-old boy who was critically injured in the splash pad shooting in Rochester Hills was released from the hospital on Friday.

His 39-year-old mother, who was shielding her children from the shooting, and another 30-year-old woman remain hospitalized.

Nine people, including two children, were injured following the shooting. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says that many of the victims who were already released from the hospital will face "significant" healing and health challenges.

Police say 42-year-old Michael William Nash from Shelby Township took his own life following the shooting.
