quicknews-africa.net 3 days ago

Mr Sani Muazu, a lecturer at the Animal Production Department, Bauchi State College of Agriculture, has advised broiler farmers to feed their chickens with the right food to improve production.

Muazu gave the advice at the weekly lecture presentation of Agricultural Interactive Stakeholders Forum in Bauchi, focusing on broiler chicken production and management.

He urged the farmers to feed their chickens the right food and use the correct feed in the right quantities for optimal nutrition.

“Ensure good water management and ensure your chickens have access to clean water at all times.

“Improve disease control; regularly clean out the chicken house and rest the houses for at least 14 days.’’

According to Muazu, broiler chicken production is a vital source of protein for human consumption.

“But farmers face numerous challenges, including disease management, feed quality, and environmental sustainability.

He said there was need for biosecurity measures, vaccination programmes and sustainable feed sources to address these challenges,’’ he said..

Muazu also urged stakeholders to support broiler farmers by providing extension services and training programmes to promote best practices.

He, however, called on farmers, producers and stakeholders to collaborate and promote sustainable broiler chicken production and management practices.

In a remark, Mr Joshua Joseph, former Zonal Project Manager, Bauchi State Agricultural Development Programme (BSADP), urged extension workers to put into practice what they had learned and serve as examples for farmers to emulate.

He also urged farmers to adhere to the advice given to them for optimal productions of broiler chickens in the state.(NAN
